Base: South West London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. Administrative base currently Springfield Hospital, Tooting SW17 7DJ

The CAMHS Service Line at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust  is seeking to recruit a Band 8a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist to provide assessment, family therapy, advice and consultation. This post offers the opportunity of working closely with the multi-disciplinary teams offering advice and consultation on clients’ care.

The Adolescent Outreach Team is a very well-established Team, offering an acute Tier 4 service for 12 to 18 year olds experiencing a range of significant and multiple mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, psychosis, self-harm, emerging personality disorder and neuro-developmental disorders. These young people experience multi-layered difficulties at a level which considerably interferes with day to day life and is usually associated with high levels of risk. The Adolescent Outreach Team aims to prevent admission to an in-patient unit, usually working with families in their own homes.

NHS England is now supporting us to expand our provision to young people and families in crisis and the appointment of a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist is a priority for us.

The post-holder will be supported by the current Family and Systemic Psychotherapists working on the in-patient wards and you will have regular supervision.

Working within the service can require a high degree of personal resilience and the successful candidate will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic, be mindful of personal and professional boundaries, be able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary team settings and to travel effectively across SW London to visit families in their own homes. The extended service will operate from 8am to 8pm weekdays and 11am to 7pm at weekends. There will be a requirement for the Family Therapist to mostly work 12pm-8pm weekdays to maximise availability to families.
